The Story of Casa Kura Kura

Learn about the personal journey and influences that shaped Casa Kura Kura into the nurturing space it is today.

How it all began

Casa Kura Kura was born from a vision—one that first revealed itself during a hypnotherapy session in Bali. In that deep, dreamlike state, I saw myself creating a sanctuary for healing, a place where people could reconnect with themselves, with nature, and with the quiet wisdom that emerges in stillness. At the time, I didn’t know where this place would be, only that it would exist.

Bali was my training ground, the place where I honed my skills, learned new tools, and met the mentors who shaped my path. It was also where I spent countless hours in the ocean, surfing alongside sea turtles—the original surfers, ancient beings who have navigated the waters of the world for over 100 million years. "Kura Kura," the Indonesian word for sea turtle, became a part of me. Their slow, graceful rhythm mirrored a way of being that I aspired to: steady, present, and in harmony with the natural flow of life.

My journey eventually led me to Mexico, where I continued to play in the waves with sea turtles, feeling their quiet companionship and timeless wisdom. But it was the East Cape of Baja California Sur that truly captured my heart.

Here, the raw beauty of the land, the vastness of the ocean, and the presence of the wild all spoke to me in a way I couldn’t ignore. The energy of this place felt healing in itself—something ancient, something sacred.

Casa Kura Kura is the embodiment of that calling. A boutique, off-grid eco-wellness retreat, it is a space where nature and healing intertwine. The name carries layers of meaning: a tribute to the sea turtles that have been my guides, a nod to the Indonesian roots of my vision, and a playful reference to the Spanish word "cura"—to heal.

Created with Love

This project is truly a family labor of love. I’ve been lucky to co-create Casa Kura Kura with my parents, who have spent most of my life in real estate development and interior decorating. Their expertise, creativity, and deep care are woven into every detail of this space, from the thoughtful layout of the property to the warm, welcoming design. My brother and his wife have also joined the journey, bringing their heartfelt belief in the vision and their support as investors. Knowing this space is being built not only with love but with the shared energy and intention of my family makes it all the more meaningful.

This oasis is more than a retreat center. It is a living, breathing expression of everything I have learned and everything I wish to share. It is a place for slowing down, for deep transformation, for reconnecting with the wisdom that already exists within.

And like the kura kura, it reminds us to trust the currents, to move with ease, and to return—again and again—to the source.
